Halloween Kills trailer: Michael Myers vs. Jamie Lee Curtis, spherical 2
Halloween, David Gordon Green’s 2018 revival of the basic horror franchise, introduced Michael Myers again for another spherical with Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode. But within the last scene, Laurie will get her revenge, trapping Michael in her burning residence.
But that is Halloween. Killing Michael isn’t actually killing Michael.
In Halloween Kills, the knife-wielding, mask-wearing serial killer is again, and sizzling on the heels of Laurie, her daughter (Judy Greer), and her granddaughter (Andi Matichak), who thought that they had lastly escaped. Green has returned to direct the sequel, once more collaborating with Danny McBride on the script. The first actual trailer for the film units up simply how they’ll preserve the “final act” of the franchise going.
Green all the time supposed for the ending of his Halloween to play as conclusive and open-ended. “When you see the original film, you hear him breathing and you know that [Michael] lives on,” the writer-director told Polygon in 2018. “Here, when we see the burning house, we actually hear Allyson breathing from the truck where she’s flagged off of a truck driver and she’s breathing heavily, turns, and then we go into the answer to that house and it’s burning, but we’re hearing her breath over it, which depending on what theater you hear it, it’s super subtle.”
Two sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, had been introduced and scheduled for launch in 2020 and 2021, respectively. But each had been pushed a full 12 months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Halloween Kills now hits theaters on Oct. 15, 2021.
